Surgical Services

Your pet's comfort and safety are our top priority. Call us for more information.

We know and understand how stressful your pet’s surgery can be for you. Our hospital strives to make the entire procedure - from the time your pet is admitted until they are fully healed - as comfortable and smooth as possible. Our experienced staff will ensure you, as an owner, understand the procedure and process and answer any questions you may have. We will also inform you how your pet is doing throughout their stay.

How is surgery performed on pets?

Pre-surgical preparations are a must to ensure a successful surgery. Our team will perform pre-anesthetic testing to detect unknown issues that could cause complications during the procedure. We will perform a blood test and ultrasound or X-rays if necessary. These tests will show us the state of your pet’s vital organs that will metabolize anesthesia.

On the day of surgery, your pet must be fasted for at least 8 hours. The surgeon uses sterilized surgical tools and advanced equipment to perform the surgery. A veterinary technician monitors your pet’s heart rate, oxygen level, blood pressure, and temperature to address any issues that may cause discomfort or complications. When the procedure is complete, we continue to monitor your pet until the anesthesia wears off and they are healthy enough to recover at home.

What surgeries are performed at your hospital?

We perform the following routine procedures:

  • Spays and neuters
  • Exploratory surgery (foreign object removal)
  • Bladder stone removal
  • Dental surgery
  • And many additional Soft Tissue surgeries

What will recovery look like for my pet?

Recovery time varies based on the type of surgery your pet had; it can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months or more for your loyal companion to completely heal. During recovery, our team will prescribe medication to help the process, and we will schedule follow-up visits to monitor their progress. Your pet will need rest and extra care after surgery. Our team will provide special instructions on how to care for your loyal companion. To discuss your pet’s recovery, please call us at 416-690-0625.
